"Manufacture of Felt-Cote-A special analysis, high tensile
strength steel core, of thickness suitable for spanning given
spacing for the job, is cleaned and then heated to a uniform
definite temperature. A coating of specially compounded
asphalt is then applied hot, by dipping and rolling, to a proper
rate of thickness. Over this asphaltic coating, while hot, a ply
of full 15-lb. long fibre asphalt impregnated asbestos felt is
then applied by heat and pressure to both surfaces. Edges of
felt are turned and sealed, and overrun at ends are sealed to
opposite ply of felt. Sheets are then cured. Final
weatherproofing applied by hot rolls at the factory covers all
surfaces, edges and ends. Finally, insoluble anti-stick is
applied over the sheets."
